Another poet to consider is Yeats and what he described as Spiritus Mundi – a poem delivered in written narrative from the abyss or anti self. The jungian subconscious or Nietzsche’s abyss or Dante’s inferno. That poetry must come from somewhere with a message, one difficult to decode, that is the challenge of the art. If we have no self, as you say, would we then be ant like? Is an ant colony a collective entity but an ant like a cell with no identity of its own? Is an individual human to the tribe, like an ant to the colony? Yet we think ourselves grander. A very thought provoking peace.
